Alopecia Areata

Why does it occur?

Alopecia Areata is an auto-immune disorder in which cells from the immune system attack the hair follicle, stopping it from producing more hair. Alopecia Areata shows up as round or oval patches on the scalp or other places on the body that grow hair. This type of Alopecia Areata can sometimes develop into either Alopecia Totalis (hair loss across the entire scalp) or Alopecia Universalis (hair loss across the entire body, including eyebrows and eyelashes).

How can permanent makeup help?

The application of semi-permanent makeup on Alopecia patient is considered an advanced technique in the area of paramedical micropigmentation. When performed by an experienced professional, the appearance of eyebrows and eyelashes is restored, and the results are incredibly natural. It is considered a highly effective treatment that, when it is correctly done, can help women, men and children, who has lost their confidence due to loss of hairs in these areas, to regain their self-esteem and to feel more positive during a very hard and stressful time in their lives.

What is the best technique to use for Alopecia patients?

There are many techniques available for semi-permanent make-up, however not all of them will give natural results when you have no hairs on your eyebrows. I offer the newest permanent technique to recreate the appearance of real eyebrows, the 3D semi-permanent eyebrows, called Hyper Realist Brows. With a digital machine, a very thin needle and different shades of colours we are able to add natural dimension to the hair strokes, creating the illusion of real, perfect brows.

This procedure are also appropriate for male alopecia sufferers. Specialised shape design that reflects a masculine eyebrow and looks amazing realistic!

My aim is to create a very natural and discreet look, that most people will not realise you have semi-permanent eyebrows.

In addition, the loss of eyelashes can be made less noticeable by adding permanent eyeliner or lash enhancement to the eyelid rim, with a choice of subtle shaded or sharper look. It helps to colour the lash line, thus avoid the pale, sometimes red-rimmed look of eyes with no lashes.
