Semi-permanent makeup treatments for lips are becoming more and more popular for many reasons. It defines your lips, creating volume and fullness. It also corrects any asymmetry or darkness, giving your lips a very youthful appearance. Besides, many people recognized the convenience of not having to reapply lipstick several times a day.

Lip blushing

Like all permanent makeup treatments, lip blushing implies injecting pigments into the skin, using a single needle and a quick, consistent hand motion, we are able to create a series of dots as opposed to a solid line as the needle goes in and out of the machine, penetrating the skin.

This treatment improves colour and shape of the lips, giving definition and fullness. Lip blushing is all about enhancing your feature naturally, giving a lip-gloss effect, soft with no sharp edges, rather than a full-on, opaque lipstick look.

This effect is created by adding layers of shade in the chosen color in multiple passes, building the concentration of pigment to a desired saturation. By meticulous color placement, the shape of the lips can slightly modify to take care of any possible asymmetry and diminish the look of any scars and discoloration. But remember, the point is for the lips to look natural, so they won’t be erased completely.

How will my lips look during the healing process?

Expect moderate swelling up to three days following the procedure. Your lips will look swollen and slightly larger than normal and look as though you may have had lip filler injection. The degree of this varies from person to person. The pigment and lip color will look darker initially, like a bold lipstick. The size of your lips will shrink back to normal and the color will significantly fade up to 50% within the first 7 days. While healing your lip color will look spotty. This is due to oxidation of the pigment and the regeneration of the skin. You might lose color on the inside of your lips first, the edges last. Right after the procedure lips normally feel dry, tight and sensitive to the touch. Similar to how a sunburn feels. The second session may be required to achieve the desired lip results.

Dark Lips Correction

Dark lip clients typically expect their lips to be even-toned and lighter. Melanin correction is a process, it is not going to happen during one session. Correction of bluish or purplish lips is not an easy task. Not every client is a candidate for this procedure, but for many, it is a life-changing experience.

Lips color correction with lip blush tattoo

During the first lips color correction session, it is important to neutralize cool tones and lightens the darkness of lips with warm-based pigments. The best colors to neutralize cool colour from dark lips are:

  • Gold/yellow tone - especially recommended for lips with a deep, dark purple undertone. Yellow heels pink.
  • Orange/bright warm tone color, corrector light-medium dark lips with a bluish tone. Orange heels pink.

After a neutralization session in most cases after 6-8 or more weeks, if the healed result is good, the targeted colour based on red can be used. It is recommended to avoid cool colors that contain blue and violet when working on dark lips.

Dark Lips Healing Process

When tattoos on dark lips start to heal and peel it might be not a very pleasant process. The healing process of dark lips can sometimes get darker at the beginning and lighten up after a few weeks. It can go light or dark in some spots. Sometimes clients might experience post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation that goes away but could be scary for the client. Depending on how dark and hyperpigmented the lips are it might take multiple sessions to neutralize lips. With darker lips, healing can take 8-10 weeks.

How to prepare for the appointment?

  • Before getting a lip tattoo ensure that your skin is in best condition as possible. Moisturized lips absorb and retain pigments better and will make the procedure much shorter. The more hydrated and smoother their lips are at the time of the treatment the better the results will be. We can't work on dry, chapped, or cracked lips.
  • Begin with a lip scrub 5 nights prior to their appointment repeating every night. (a teaspoon of brown sugar and olive oil works perfectly)
  • After the scrub, apply a moisturizing lip balm, shea butter, or even coconut oil.  During this time, avoid any lipsticks, keeping the lips moist with a nourishing balm instead.
  • Additionally, stay very well hydrated, drinking 8-10 glasses of water daily, and avoid alcohol as well as extreme sun exposure.
  • Treatments such as lip injections and chemical peels can be done four weeks before or 4 weeks after your appointment.
